Natural Park of Faial was elected the winner of Portugal of the prize EDEN
The Natural Park of Faial was elected on the February 24, by Turismo de Portugal, as the portuguese representative in the European Contest Destinations of Excellence - "EDEN", a European Commission initiative, which seeks the promotion of sustainable development models, supporting the European tourism by increasing the visibility of emerging destinations. The theme for this year is the "Touristic Valorization of Sites", in order to highlight national destinations (nontraditional) which have reclassified their natural sites or their local heritage, making them into tourist attractions that are, by this way, as a catalyst for a more dynamic site.
